Hello to everyone.
I'm Charlie, 27, and new to the mtb world. I am a nursing student (done in Dec 08!), Homebrewer, Karate (TangSooDo) Instructor, and I now obsessed with my bike. I also am married, and have a new son that is 3 & 1/2 months old.
I recently purchased a Trek from the lbs here in Shreveport. I hope to get out and do some riding with people soon. I have had the bike about 4 or 5 days, and only gotten to ride twice, but I did 4 miles on Teague and then 9 miles on Teague and Clyde Fant. Easy stuff, but I gotta get myself in shape and learn the bike before I do any trails. If there is anywhere I can go to learn better/faster, let me know.
Thanks! |

| If you're already on Clyde Fant, head down to the Stoner Boat launch, there are some trails in the "woods" right there that go all the way to Hamels with a lot of interesting stuff in between. The best way to learn is to get in there and ride! |

I see your riding the Bossier Side..you living in Bossier? Either way we can give you some good routes from the house to start working on building that stamina to get you ready for the trail riding to come.
I'll help you on riding if you teach me some of that "how to hurt people technique" I practiced Kajukenbo and a little Kung fu couple years back. really enjoyed it.
By chance you know any Silat?
Keep watching the site and try to show up when a group ride is posted. |

Actually, I have been working out with a good friend of mine who is a Silat Group Leader, his name is Matthew Lesko. He is the only person in town that teaches silat as a system, and not just an adjunct to other material. He is very purist about Filipino MA. I know a few Kajukenbo practitioners, but nobody that just stands out as phenominal in their area.
I tried to hit the road today, with the wife, and got hung up with a dysfunctional baby sitter. !@#$%^&*()*&^%$#@!
Gimme all the info you can, I'm hooked on riding already!
